State-owned Oil India Limited (OIL) has recorded its highest-ever daily oil and gas production, achieving an output of 1,47,159 Barrels of Oil Equivalent (BOE) in a single day. The milestone was announced by Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri, who described it as a significant achievement in India’s efforts to strengthen domestic energy production and enhance energy self-reliance.
According to the Minister, the record production was driven by a combination of sustained drilling activity, improved field performance and operational efficiencies across Oil India’s producing assets. The achievement comes as the company continues to expand exploration and production activities in both conventional and frontier hydrocarbon basins to boost domestic oil and natural gas output.
Oil India has been focusing on increasing production through accelerated development drilling, well interventions, enhanced recovery techniques and the deployment of advanced technologies. The company has also stepped up exploration activities in new regions, including offshore areas, while investing in modern production infrastructure to improve asset performance and recovery rates.
The record output aligns with the Government of India’s strategy to reduce dependence on imported hydrocarbons by increasing indigenous production. The Centre has introduced a series of policy measures in recent years to encourage exploration and production, while public sector energy companies have intensified investments in upstream projects to strengthen the country’s long-term energy security.
Oil India, a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise, is one of India’s leading upstream energy companies with operations spanning crude oil and natural gas exploration, production and transportation. The latest production milestone is expected to further support the country’s objective of enhancing domestic hydrocarbon availability while meeting the growing demand for energy across industrial and economic sectors.
