The Tata Power Company Limited has completed the acquisition of 100% equity stake in Ryapte Power Transmission Limited (RPTL), a project-specific special purpose vehicle (SPV), further strengthening its presence in India’s power transmission infrastructure segment. The acquisition process was completed on July 30, 2026.
RPTL has been established to develop, own, operate and subsequently transfer a major interstate transmission project under the Build-Own-Operate-Transfer (BOOT) model. The acquisition was completed through a cash consideration of ₹10.87 crore, with Tata Power acquiring the entire equity stake in the company.
The project involves the development of an extensive transmission network comprising approximately 250 km of transmission lines. The scope includes the construction of 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting the Ryapte Air Insulated Substation (AIS) with the proposed Doddathaggalli 400/220 kV GIS Substation, along with another 400 kV double-circuit line linking the existing Kolar Substation to Doddathaggalli GIS. In addition, the project includes 220 kV double-circuit transmission lines connecting Doddathaggalli GIS with the existing substations at Ekarajapura, Hosakote and Sarjapura in Karnataka, as well as underground 220 kV cable links connecting these substations.
The infrastructure development also encompasses the establishment of a 5×500 MVA, 400/220 kV substation at Ryapte in Tumkur district, equipped with 2×125 MVAr 400 kV bus reactors, and a 3×500 MVA, 400/220 kV GIS substation at Doddathaggalli near Hosakote, also featuring 2×125 MVAr 400 kV bus reactors.
