GE Vernova T&D India Limited has been named the L1 bidder by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Power Grid) for the design and establishment of a 6,000 MW, ±800 kV High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) Line Commutated Converter (LCC) terminal station for evacuating renewable power from Barmer II to South Kalamb.
According to the company’s regulatory filing, Power Grid issued a letter informing GE Vernova T&D India that it had emerged as the L1 bidder for the project. The proposed HVDC terminal station will have a configuration of 2×3,000 MW.
The project involves the design, supply and execution of the 6,000 MW, ±800 kV HVDC LCC terminal station connecting Barmer II with South Kalamb. The order is being awarded by a domestic entity and will be executed over a period of multiple years.
The project is specifically intended to support the evacuation of renewable power, strengthening the transmission infrastructure required to move large volumes of renewable electricity from the Barmer II region to South Kalamb.
GE Vernova T&D India stated that the order does not involve any interest of the promoter, promoter group or group companies in the awarding entity. It also confirmed that the order does not fall under related-party transactions.
