Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) has secured its largest single order for gas turbine generator packages, winning a contract from Nigeria’s Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise amid intense international competition.

The order covers the manufacture and supply of eight gas turbine generator packages, along with supervision of their erection and commissioning at the project site. The equipment will be produced at BHEL’s manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The contract marks a major export milestone for the state-owned engineering company, becoming its biggest gas turbine generator package order on a supply-and-supervision basis in terms of both quantity and value. The project is expected to further strengthen BHEL’s presence in the global energy equipment market.

BHEL has built a sizeable footprint across Africa through power-sector projects in countries including Egypt, Ethiopia, Libya, Rwanda, Senegal and Sudan. It has also previously supplied a 26 MW gas turbine generator package to the Government of Cross River State in Nigeria.

More than four decades of experience in gas turbine manufacturing, BHEL has supplied nearly 250 gas turbines to customers in India and overseas. More than one-fifth of these units have been delivered to international markets, reflecting the company’s expanding global reach in power-generation equipment.
