EESL introduces Rs 6,990 offer for induction cooktops under National Efficient Cooking Programme

Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL), a public-sector energy services company operating under the Ministry of Power, has introduced a special offer of Rs 6,990 for a 1,200-watt induction cooktop along with compatible cookware under the National Efficient Cooking Programme (NECP).

The initiative is aimed at encouraging households to adopt electricity-based cooking solutions and increasing the use of energy-efficient electrical appliances.

The offer was unveiled by EESL Chief Executive Officer Akhilesh Kumar Dixit while releasing a report on accelerating the adoption of electric cooking solutions in India.

The programme seeks to make induction cooking more accessible to households by offering an appliance and compatible cookware at a specified price.

Induction cooktops use electromagnetic technology to generate heat directly in compatible cookware, making them an alternative to conventional cooking arrangements.

The introduction of the offer comes amid growing interest in electrification across household applications.

Electric cooking can help reduce dependence on conventional cooking fuels and support the wider adoption of electricity-based appliances in residential settings.

However, expanding electric cooking will also require reliable electricity supply and adequate household electrical infrastructure.

The availability of suitable wiring, sockets, circuit protection and sufficient sanctioned electrical load will remain important considerations for households adopting higher-powered appliances.

The programme could create additional demand for manufacturers of induction cooktops, electrical accessories, compatible cookware and associated household electrical products.

It also reflects the wider role of energy efficiency programmes in encouraging consumers to shift towards modern electrical appliances.
