Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has achieved a major milestone by commencing gas monetisation from its Daman Upside Development Project (DUDP) in the western offshore. The milestone was reached on March 29, 2026, with the successful flow of gas from the B-12-24P platform.
Located approximately 180 km northwest of Mumbai and around 80 km south of Pipavav in Gujarat, the DUDP project has been developed with a capital expenditure of about USD 1 billion. The platform has been successfully commissioned, and gas is now being transported to the Hazira Plant for processing.
The company executed the project in less than two years from the date of award, highlighting strong project management and operational efficiency. ONGC attributed this accelerated timeline to innovative deployment of the drill-deck, along with the robust performance of its drilling and production teams.
This development marks the beginning of phased gas production from the DUDP project. ONGC stated that output from all wells will be gradually ramped up in stages, strengthening domestic gas supply from offshore assets.
The milestone underscores ONGC’s continued focus on enhancing hydrocarbon production and improving energy security through efficient execution of large-scale offshore projects.
