Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), India’s largest state-owned engineering and manufacturing enterprise under the Ministry of Heavy Industries, has received a Letter of Intent (LOI) from Hindalco Industries Limited for the execution of a 2×150 MW Boiler Turbine Generator (BTG) package for the Aditya Expansion Project Phase II at Aditya Aluminium, located in Lapanga, Sambalpur district of Odisha.
The LOI, issued on Wednesday, covers design, engineering, manufacture, supply, installation, commissioning, and performance acceptance testing of the BTG package, excluding civil works. The project has been awarded through a domestic tender by Hindalco Industries Limited.
The estimated value of the order is in the range of ₹1,200–1,500 crore, excluding GST. The scope includes supply up to site, unloading, storage, erection, commissioning, and performance guarantee testing for both units.
As per the terms of the LOI, Unit 1 is scheduled for commissioning within 35 months, while Unit 2 is to be commissioned within 37 months from the effective date of the contract, which is defined as the date of issuance of the Letter of Intent.
BHEL has clarified that there is no promoter or group company interest in Hindalco Industries Limited and that the order does not fall under related party transactions.
