JSW Energy PSP Eleven Limited (JEPEL), a step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has secured orders worth ₹443.74 crore from Bondada Renewable Energy Private Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bondada Engineering Limited, for the supply of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Power Conversion Systems (PCS). The order comprises 200 MW / 400 MWh of BESS capacity, further strengthening JSW Energy’s presence in the rapidly expanding energy storage market.
JEPEL operates a 5 GWh per annum battery assembly plant in Pune and will execute the supply of the BESS and PCS solutions under the awarded contract. The order marks a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to expand its footprint across the energy storage value chain and support the growing demand for advanced storage infrastructure in India.
The engagement aligns with JSW Energy’s strategic focus on strengthening its capabilities in the energy storage segment. As India accelerates its transition towards cleaner energy sources, Battery Energy Storage Systems are playing an increasingly important role in ensuring grid reliability, managing peak power demand, facilitating renewable energy integration, and enabling round-the-clock power availability.
JSW Energy currently has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, including 14.53 GW operational capacity and 13.0 GW under construction across thermal, hydro, and renewable energy projects, along with an additional 4.6 GW pipeline.
The company has also built a locked-in energy storage capacity of 29.6 GWh, comprising 26.4 GWh of pumped hydro storage and 3.2 GWh of battery energy storage systems. As part of its long-term growth strategy, JSW Energy aims to achieve 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, while working towards its goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050.
