Hirect Limited (Formerly known as Hind Rectifiers Limited) has secured its maiden order for Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trainsets from MCF, marking a significant milestone in the Company’s strategic evolution from a component manufacturer to a provider of integrated railway systems.
The development order, valued at approximately ₹60 crore, involves the supply of complete Propulsion Systems for 4 MEMU trainsets, including Traction Transformers, Traction Motors, Complete Propulsion System with TCMS (Train Control and Management System). The order is expected to be executed over a period of 24 months.
HIRECT’s entry into the MEMU trainset segment represents a strategic expansion beyond locomotive applications into next-generation trainsets. As a development order, this project represents an important qualification milestone that enables HIRECT to demonstrate the performance, reliability and operational excellence of its indigenously developed propulsion system. Successful execution is expected to strengthen the Company’s credentials for participation in larger system-level opportunities across the rapidly expanding trainset ecosystem.
The achievement reflects the strength of HIRECT’s in-house engineering and research capabilities. Backed by a strong in-house R&D team, the Company has developed integrated system solutions, enabling it to successfully diversify beyond conventional locomotive products into trainset applications.
Commenting on the order, Suramya Nevatia, Chairman & Managing Director said “This order is far more than a new business win, it validates the technology roadmap we have been building over several years. Our entry into the MEMU segment demonstrates the strength of our R&D capabilities and our ability to deliver complete, high-value Integrated solutions for modern rolling stock. As Indian Railways accelerate the deployment of trainsets and next generation mobility solutions, we believe HIRECT is well positioned to play an increasingly important role in this transformation.”
