Hindustan Power Signs 800 MW Power Supply Agreement with MP Power Management Company for Anuppur Project

Hindustan Power has entered into a long-term Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with MP Power Management Company Limited for the supply of 800 MW of electricity from its upcoming generation unit in Anuppur, Madhya Pradesh. The agreement forms a key part of the state’s long-term strategy to enhance and secure its power availability.

The PSA has been executed through Hindustan Power’s subsidiary, Anuppur Powerprojects Private Limited, with the supply of electricity scheduled to begin in 2031. Structured under a 25-year term, the agreement also includes an option for a five-year extension, ensuring long-term supply stability for the state’s power distribution network.

The project has been awarded under the DBFOO (Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate) model, reflecting a structured public-private partnership approach aimed at strengthening large-scale power infrastructure development.Commenting on the development, Ratul Puri, Chairman of Hindustan Power, said, “This agreement represents an important milestone in Hindustan Power’s ongoing expansion strategy and reaffirms our long-term focus on the power sector. As India continues to witness rapid economic and industrial growth, the demand for dependable baseload power will remain critical.”

He further said, “This PSA reinforces our long-standing commitment to the state. It reflects confidence in our execution capabilities and our ability to deliver efficient, large-scale power infrastructure through advanced ultra-supercritical technology.”

According to the company, the Anuppur project is expected to significantly contribute to meeting Madhya Pradesh’s rising electricity demand while also supporting broader national objectives for power infrastructure expansion.

The development is also projected to generate employment opportunities, stimulate regional economic activity, and improve long-term energy availability across the state.

Reiterating the importance of robust energy infrastructure, Puri said that India’s economic ambitions require a balance between energy transition goals and reliable baseload capacity. He added that Hindustan Power remains focused on delivering efficient, affordable, and future-ready power generation solutions to strengthen long-term energy security.

Hindustan Power, which entered India’s transitional energy sector in 2008, commissioned its Anuppur power project in phases during 2015 and 2016, establishing an operational base in Madhya Pradesh that continues to expand with the latest agreement.
