Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a major international contract agreement with Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals Free Zone Enterprise, Nigeria, for the design, manufacturing, supply, and supervision of erection and commissioning of eight gas turbine generator packages for the company’s petroleum refinery and polypropylene plant located in the Dangote Industries Free Zone, Nigeria.
The contract, signed on June 2, 2026, marks a significant overseas order for BHEL and further strengthens the company’s presence in the international power and industrial infrastructure market.
Under the scope of work, BHEL will undertake the design, manufacture, and supply of the gas turbine generator packages up to Mumbai Port. The company will also provide supervision services for erection, commissioning, and performance guarantee testing of the eight units. Civil works are excluded from the contract scope.
According to the company, the project is expected to be completed within 26 months from the effective date of the contract. The order value is estimated to be in the range of ₹2,000 crore to ₹2,500 crore.
The contract has been awarded by an international entity through an international tender process. BHEL clarified that neither its promoter group nor group companies have any interest in the awarding entity. The company also confirmed that the contract does not fall under related-party transactions.
The project is expected to support the power requirements of Dangote’s refinery and polypropylene manufacturing facilities, reinforcing industrial infrastructure development within Nigeria’s largest integrated refining and petrochemical complex.
