Piyush Garg Director Balaji Switchgears Pvt. Ltd discussing digital monitoring and smart electrical infrastructure

“What differentiates Balaji Switchgears is that we don’t see ourselves as just a product supplier, but as a technology and automation partner. While we offer a comprehensive portfolio across switchgear, industrial automation, cables, enclosures, and panel solutions, the real value we bring lies in understanding our customer’s applications and recommending the right solution for them.”

Balaji Switchgears has evolved into a comprehensive provider of low-voltage electrical and industrial automation solutions. How is the company adapting its product portfolio and business strategy to meet the growing demand for smart, connected, and energy-efficient technologies?

Looking at the industry moves, the expectations from electrical infrastructure have changed significantly over the last few years. Customers today are looking for solutions that are not only reliable but also intelligent, connected, and energy efficient. Balaji Switchgears, have evolved accordingly by strengthening our automation portfolio and focusing on smart switchgear, digital monitoring, and energy management solutions. More importantly, we work alongside OEMs, panel builders, and industries as a technology partner, helping them select, upgrade, and optimise their electrical systems through application expertise, retrofitting, and long-term service support. This approach enables our customers to build infrastructure that is efficient, scalable, and ready for the future.

Industrial automation, digitalization, and energy efficiency are reshaping the electrical industry. What key trends are you currently observing in the Indian market, and how are they influencing your product offerings and business decisions?

The Indian electrical industry is moving towards a future that is more connected, automated, and energy conscious. OEMs and industries are increasingly looking for intelligent solutions that offer real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and better energy management rather than just electrical protection. Understanding India is a price sensitive market, retrofit of existing infrastructure is becoming a priority as businesses look to modernise without major capital investment. We recommend of conscious upgrade to existing system ensuring safety and reliability, before developing a complete new system. These trends are influencing our approach at Balaji Switchgears by strengthening our focus on automation-ready products, smart monitoring solutions, energy-efficient technologies, and lifecycle services. Our objective is to help customers build electrical systems that are reliable, scalable, and prepared for the next phase of industrial growth.

With expertise spanning switchgear, industrial automation, cables, enclosures, and panel solutions, how does Balaji Switchgears differentiate itself in a highly competitive market, and what value-added services do you offer beyond product supply?

What differentiates Balaji Switchgears is that we don’t see ourselves as just a product supplier, but as a technology and automation partner. While we offer a comprehensive portfolio across switchgear, industrial automation, cables, enclosures, and panel solutions, the real value we bring lies in understanding our customers’ applications and recommending the right solution for them. Beyond products, we support OEMs, panel builders, and industries through application-level guidance, system design assistance, retrofitting, AMC programmes, and long-term technical support. I believe customers today need a partner who can simplify complex projects, ensure reliable system performance, and support them throughout the entire lifecycle of their electrical infrastructure.

The Government of India’s focus on infrastructure development, manufacturing growth, smart industries, and energy transition is creating new opportunities. Which sectors do you believe will drive the highest demand for electrical and automation solutions in the coming years?

From my perspective, India’s infrastructure and industrial landscape is entering a phase of accelerated transformation, driven by initiatives such as PM Gati Shakti, Make in India, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme, the National Smart Grid Mission, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission. These policies are creating strong demand for advanced electrical and automation solutions across renewable energy, EV infrastructure, data centres, manufacturing, warehousing, water treatment, and smart infrastructure. As these sectors expand, the need for intelligent, connected, and energy-efficient electrical systems will only grow. I believe the organisations investing in future-ready automation and digital electrical infrastructure today will be best positioned to drive India’s next phase of industrial growth.

Supply chain resilience, product availability, and timely project execution have become increasingly important. What measures has Balaji Switchgears implemented to ensure operational efficiency and consistently meet customer expectations?

Consistency is built through planning, strong partnerships, and execution. At Balaji Switchgears, we have focused on building a dependable supply chain by maintaining ready inventory, working closely with globally trusted brands, and strengthening our procurement and logistics processes. Equally important is our technical team, which works closely with OEMs and panel builders to ensure the right products are available at the right time. Beyond product availability, our application support, retrofitting capabilities, and structured AMC services help customers keep their projects as per schedule and their operations running smoothly. I believe reliability is measured not only by the products we supply, but by how consistently we support our customers through our service and execution in times of crisis as well.

Sustainability and energy efficiency are becoming key priorities across industries. How is Balaji Switchgears contributing to the adoption of environmentally responsible and energy-efficient electrical solutions?

We always believe sustainability begins with making electrical systems more efficient, reliable, and future-ready. Our role is to help OEMs, panel builders, and industries achieve this through energy-efficient switchgear, intelligent automation, energy monitoring, and advanced motor control solutions. We also encourage the modernisation of existing infrastructure through retrofitting, allowing customers to improve performance and reduce energy losses without extensive replacements. By combining the right technologies with practical engineering and long-term service support, we help customers lower operating costs, optimise energy consumption, and move towards more sustainable operations. In our view, building smarter electrical infrastructure today is one of the most effective ways to support India’s long-term energy and decarbonisation goals.

Looking ahead, what are the key priorities, growth plans, and strategic objectives for Balaji Switchgears over the next three to five years, and what message would you like to share with your customers and industry stakeholders?
