Adani Power Limited (APL) has signed a long-term Power Supply Agreement (PSA) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for the supply of 1,600 MW of electricity over a period of 25 years, marking a significant step toward strengthening Maharashtra’s future power availability.
The agreement covers power generation from a new 2×800 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant that will be developed by Adani Power under the Design, Build, Finance, Own and Operate (DBFOO) model. The project is expected to contribute substantially to meeting the growing electricity demand in Maharashtra while supporting grid reliability and energy security.
The planned facility will utilize advanced ultra-supercritical technology, which offers higher efficiency compared to conventional thermal power plants. The project is aimed at ensuring a stable and long-term supply of electricity to consumers across the state.
Fuel security for the upcoming power plant has been addressed through a coal linkage allocation under the Government of India’s SHAKTI policy, providing a reliable source of fuel for the project’s operations.
The signing of the agreement follows the company’s earlier announcement regarding the award of the long-term power supply arrangement and reinforces Adani Power’s role in supporting India’s expanding energy infrastructure through large-scale generation projects.
With this development, Adani Power continues to expand its generation portfolio while contributing to the country’s efforts to meet rising power demand through dependable and efficient thermal power capacity.
