LS ELECTRIC Partners with GS E&C to Advance AI Data Center DC Distribution Business

LS ELECTRIC has partnered with GS E&C to strengthen cooperation in AI data center power infrastructure, with a focus on next-generation DC distribution technologies and key power equipment.

LS ELECTRIC announced that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GS E&C at LS Yongsan Tower on the 10th, establishing a framework for joint response to changes in the AI data center (AIDC) business environment.

The signing ceremony was attended by top executives and key management from both companies, including Koo Ja-kyun, Chairman of LS ELECTRIC; Heo Yoon-hong, CEO of GS E&C; and Chae Dae-seok, CEO of LS ELECTRIC. The two sides shared outlooks for the global AI data center market and held in-depth discussions on technology cooperation and joint response measures centered on DC distribution—emerging as a key trend in power infrastructure in the AI era.

Through this agreement, the two companies will cooperate on developing next-generation DC distribution technologies to improve power efficiency, a top priority for high-power, high-density AI data centers, and will regularize technical exchange meetings.

In addition, they plan to maximize business synergies by stably supplying key power equipment—such as switchgear, gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), and extra-high-voltage transformers—for AI data center projects led by GS E&C.

As AI data centers equipped with high-performance GPUs drive power consumption sharply higher, adoption of DC distribution—capable of dramatically reducing power conversion losses compared with conventional AC systems—is accelerating.

LS ELECTRIC has developed a broad portfolio of technologies for the DC distribution ecosystem, including solid-state transformers (SST), solid-state circuit breakers (SSCB) and energy storage systems (ESS). The company has also established and operates the world’s first 100% DC-distribution “DC Factory” at its Cheonan site.

LS ELECTRIC has also secured business know-how and proven reliability accumulated through supplying power infrastructure solutions to large data center projects of major U.S. big-tech companies. By combining LS ELECTRIC’s next-generation DC distribution technology with GS E&C’s data center construction capabilities, the partnership is expected to secure strong market dominance in the rapidly growing AI data center infrastructure market.

An LS ELECTRIC official said, “The AI data center paradigm is rapidly shifting toward DC distribution that minimizes power losses,” adding, “Based on top-level power solutions already proven in the U.S. big-tech market and next-generation distribution technologies such as SST and SSCB, we will significantly strengthen cooperation with GS E&C and lead the global power infrastructure market.”
