POWERGRID Commissions Transmission Project for Renewable Energy Evacuation from Khavda RE Zone in Gujarat

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has successfully commissioned the transmission project titled “Transmission System for Evacuation of Power from Potential Renewable Energy (RE) Zone in Khavda Area of Gujarat under Phase IV (7 GW) – Part E4.” The project has been declared commercially operational with effect from June 21, 2026.

The company informed stock exchanges that the commissioning has been carried out in accordance with Regulation 5(1) of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions of Tariff) Regulations, 2024, and Regulation 27(1)(c)(i) of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (Indian Electricity Grid Code) Regulations, 2023.

POWERGRID received the Date of Commercial Operation (DOCO) confirmation dated July 13, 2026, via email on July 14, 2026, marking the formal operationalization of the transmission asset.

The development is part of the broader transmission infrastructure being established to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy generated from the Khavda region of Gujarat, one of India’s largest emerging renewable energy hubs. The project is expected to strengthen grid connectivity and support the integration of large-scale renewable energy capacity into the national power system.
