Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Notification of Award (NOA) from Meja Urja Nigam Private Limited (MUNPL) for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) package of the 3×800 MW Meja Supercritical Thermal Power Project (STPP) Stage-II in Uttar Pradesh.
The company disclosed the development in a regulatory filing submitted to the stock exchanges on June 5, 2026. According to the filing, the NOA was received from MUNPL on June 4, 2026, at 6:00 PM.
The contract, valued at more than ₹21,000 crore excluding GST, covers the design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, construction, erection, testing and commissioning of the EPC package for the thermal power project. The project will be located in Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh.
MUNPL is a joint venture between NTPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (UPRVUNL). The contract has been awarded through an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) process.
As per the terms of the award, the Completion of Facilities (COF) for the EPC package is scheduled within 70 months from the date of issuance of the Notification of Award.
BHEL stated that the contract has been awarded by a domestic entity and clarified that the order does not fall under related-party transactions. The company also noted that MUNPL is a joint venture company between NTPC and UPRVUNL, while BHEL is serving as the executing agency for the project.
The Meja Stage-II project is expected to strengthen thermal power generation capacity in Uttar Pradesh and support the state’s growing electricity demand through high-efficiency supercritical technology.
