NHPC Declares Commercial Operation of Unit 4 at 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project

NHPC Limited has announced the declaration of Commercial Operation Date (CoD) for Unit #4 (250 MW) of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project (2,000 MW) located in Assam and Arunachal Pradesh. The unit has commenced commercial operations effective from May 8, 2026.

The development marks a significant milestone for the project, as four generating units, Unit #1, Unit #2, Unit #3, and Unit #4 each with a capacity of 250 MW, have now been successfully commissioned and are operational. This brings the total commissioned capacity of the project to 1,000 MW out of the planned 2,000 MW.

NHPC confirmed that the remaining units of the Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project are progressing as scheduled, and updates regarding their commissioning will be communicated in due course.

The announcement has been made in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, and follows a series of prior disclosures issued by the company between October 2023 and March 2026.

The Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project is one of India’s largest hydroelectric initiatives and plays a critical role in strengthening the country’s renewable energy capacity and grid stability in the northeastern region.

NHPC stated that this update is being submitted for information and record purposes to the stock exchanges.
