PowerBuild Batteries Private Limited, a subsidiary of Time Technoplast Limited, has received the Certificate of Successful Test Completion from the Central Power Research Institute (CPRI) under IS 1651:2013 standard for its OPzS stationary batteries, also known as tubular batteries in transparent SAN containers (TBS). The certification strengthens the company’s stationary battery portfolio and enables participation in utility and EPC tenders.
The certification covers the company’s 2V OPzS battery variants in capacities of 100Ah, 200Ah, and 300Ah, manufactured in transparent Styrene Acrylonitrile (SAN) containers. These flooded lead-acid stationary batteries are designed for long service life and reliable continuous float performance, with transparent containers allowing easy visual inspection and tubular plate construction ensuring durability and operational stability.
The OPzS / TBS batteries are used in infrastructure-grade applications across the power utility sector, including generation and transmission facilities, thermal, nuclear and hydroelectric plants, substations, offshore oil rigs, and petrochemical complexes, where uninterrupted DC backup power, long service life, and high reliability under demanding load conditions are essential.
According to the company’s internal estimates, India’s power generation sector battery market is valued at approximately ₹3,000–₹4,000 crore, with the OPzS / TBS segment witnessing strong growth driven by utility demand and replacement cycles. After more than six months of rigorous testing, PowerBuild is now among a select group of Indian manufacturers producing OPzS / TBS batteries in transparent SAN containers for utility-grade applications.
The company stated that its existing plant and machinery are sufficient to manufacture these batteries and no additional capital expenditure will be required. Production using current facilities is expected to improve capacity utilisation, and the addition of this product to the portfolio is likely to support improvement in overall EBITDA margins.
PowerBuild Batteries Private Limited operates manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and Bengaluru and supplies industrial and stationary lead-acid batteries for sectors including renewable energy, railways, UPS, inverters, and power utilities across India.
