Tata.ev and Hopcharge Roll Out Doorstep EV Charging Vans Across NCR

Tata Motors’ electric vehicle arm, Tata.ev, has partnered with Hopcharge to introduce on-demand EV charging vans across the National Capital Region (NCR), aiming to address one of the key barriers to electric vehicle adoption — access to convenient charging infrastructure.

Under the partnership, mobile charging vans will provide doorstep charging services to EV owners, eliminating the need for a fixed home or building-level charging installation. Customers can book a charging van through a dedicated platform, after which the van travels to the user’s location and charges the vehicle on-site.

The initiative is particularly targeted at EV owners residing in multi-storey apartments, rented accommodations, or properties where installing a personal charging unit is either not feasible or not permitted. By offering mobile charging, the companies seek to bridge infrastructure gaps for residents without access to dedicated parking or home charging setups.

As part of a promotional offer, customers purchasing a Tata.ev vehicle from an authorised dealership will be eligible for complimentary doorstep charging services, subject to terms and conditions. Interested buyers have been advised to contact their nearest Tata.ev dealership for further details. Additional information is available on the official partnership website.

Charging infrastructure continues to be a persistent challenge in accelerating EV adoption across India, especially in dense urban clusters such as Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, and Faridabad. While public charging networks have expanded in recent years, access to overnight home charging — widely regarded as the most convenient charging method — remains limited for many urban residents.

Mobile EV charging has emerged as an alternative solution to this challenge. Instead of requiring drivers to travel to a charging station, the charging unit travels to the vehicle owner. This model, which has been tested in other global markets, is now being implemented in parts of India where apartment-dominated housing and constrained parking infrastructure restrict the installation of private chargers.

Tata.ev operates under Tata Motors and is among the key players in India’s electric passenger vehicle segment. Hopcharge, which operates mobile EV charging units, has been active in the NCR market.

The companies have not disclosed the financial details of the partnership or the number of charging vans planned for deployment. There is also no confirmation on whether the service will expand beyond NCR, and no timeline for further rollout has been announced.
