India–US Energy Corridor Talks Highlight Growth-Driven Energy Priorities

India’s long-term economic growth remains deeply dependent on securing reliable and diversified energy supplies, a priority that took centre stage during high-level discussions between Indian and US energy stakeholders in Houston.

The Consulate General of India (CGI) in Houston hosted a US–India Energy Roundtable on the Global Energy Outlook 2026 on Wednesday, in collaboration with the US–India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF). The closed-door meeting brought together more than 30 senior executives from leading global energy, engineering, and technology companies to discuss evolving energy trends, infrastructure investment needs, and areas of bilateral cooperation.

Speaking at the roundtable, Consul General D C Manjunath emphasised that India’s ambition to sustain high economic growth is closely tied to long-term energy security. He underlined the importance of continued engagement with US industry to ensure dependable and affordable energy supplies, while simultaneously advancing cleaner technologies and innovation.

Discussions focused on India’s expanding energy agenda, including the scaling up of LNG and natural gas infrastructure, strengthening transmission and distribution networks, and increasing overall energy production capacity to meet future demand.

Participants included senior representatives from ExxonMobil, Chevron, Honeywell, GAIL, Larsen & Toubro, Weatherford, LanzaTech, S&P Global, McKinsey, and the Society of Petroleum Engineers, reflecting broad industry interest across conventional, transition, and advanced energy technologies.

According to the Consulate General of India, the roundtable forms part of its ongoing efforts to create a structured platform for dialogue between policymakers and industry leaders on shared energy challenges and emerging commercial opportunities.

The discussions build on the February 2026 India–US trade framework, which identified energy and technology collaboration as key drivers of bilateral economic growth.

Notably, participation from companies such as LanzaTech and Honeywell highlighted increasing commercial interest in sustainable aviation fuels and carbon recycling technologies, areas seen as highly relevant for India’s industrial and aviation sectors as the country advances its clean energy transition.
