Battery swapping solutions provider Indofast Energy has announced plans to set up a network of 23 battery swapping stations along the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 corridor, under a partnership with Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL).
As part of the collaboration, the company will deploy swapping stations across eight key metro stations on the Aqua Line 3 route—Aarey JVLR, SEEPZ, MIDC, Santacruz Metro, Bandra Kurla Complex, Dharavi, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk. The stations will be strategically located to support seamless electric mobility along the city’s major north-south transit corridor.
The battery swapping infrastructure will cater to electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and small commercial vehicles. It is aimed at supporting delivery partners, ride-sharing drivers, and daily commuters using the Aqua Line 3, making it easier for them to adopt electric vehicles for end-to-end travel needs.
Commenting on the partnership, Anant Badjatya, CEO of Indofast Energy, said the collaboration marks a shift in urban mobility planning by integrating battery swapping infrastructure directly with Mumbai’s metro network. He noted that placing swap stations at key transit nodes would address last-mile connectivity challenges and help create a convenient ecosystem for electric mobility, while accelerating EV adoption in one of India’s largest metropolitan regions.
