Texmaco Rail & Engineering Limited, a leading force in India’s railway rolling stock and infrastructure sector, has been awarded a ₹46.32 crore contract by Southern Railway for the design, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of 25 kV traction Overhead Equipment (OHE). The project forms a critical component of the track doubling initiative between Thiruvananthapuram and Eraniel approx. 100 km. This work also involves infringement removal and major electrical modification at major Railway yard of Thiruvananthapuram Railway station.

Secured through a competitive bidding process, the contract encompasses electrification works and upgrades to existing OHE infrastructure within the Thiruvananthapuram Division. Scheduled for completion within 36 months, the project underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to expanding capacity, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing network reliability.
The Thiruvananthapuram–Eraniel doubling project is a strategic capacity enhancement initiative designed to ease congestion and strengthen connectivity along one of southern India’s busiest rail corridors. Electrification will be pivotal in enabling seamless train operations and advancing Indian Railways’ broader electrification and sustainability goals.
