DC Nubra Reviews Progress of 220 KV Diskit-Phyang Transmission Line Project

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Nubra, Sh. Mukul Beniwal, IAS, inspected the ongoing 220 KV Diskit-Phyang Transmission Line project being executed by REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (REC-PDCL) at T-morh and Tsati in Nubra district. The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress of the project and assessing issues affecting the completion of transmission infrastructure works at Tsati.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned agencies to expedite the work and ensure the timely completion of the project during the current favourable working season. He emphasized that construction activities should be completed before the onset of summer, when increasing water levels could create operational challenges and potentially lead to submergence of the project site.

Sh. Beniwal stressed the importance of avoiding any unnecessary delays in execution and called upon all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the established project timeline to facilitate the successful completion of the transmission line.

The inspection was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nubra, Sh. Jigmet Rapten, JKAS; Superintending Engineer, Power Development Department (PDD) Leh; officials from REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (REC-PDCL); representatives of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO); and other officials associated with the execution of the project.

The 220 KV Diskit-Phyang Transmission Line is a significant power infrastructure project aimed at strengthening electricity transmission connectivity in the region. The review visit underscored the administration’s focus on ensuring timely implementation of critical infrastructure projects in Nubra district.
