NTPC Green Energy secures 200 MW/800 MWh BESS capacity in WBSEDCL tender

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has emerged as a successful bidder in the e-reverse auction conducted by the West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) for the development of standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects in West Bengal.

The tender was floated for setting up 500 MW/2,000 MWh of standalone BESS capacity in the state through a Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.

Under the terms of the Request for Selection (RfS), NGEL has secured 200 MW/800 MWh of BESS capacity in the tender. The company secured the capacity at a discovered tariff of ₹4.35 lakh per MW per month.

The e-reverse auction forms part of WBSEDCL’s initiative to procure standalone BESS capacity through the competitive bidding route, with the selected capacity to be developed in West Bengal.
