Motherson Begins Commercial Production at New Pune Manufacturing Facility

Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (Motherson) has announced the commencement of operations at a new greenfield manufacturing facility established by its subsidiary, Motherson Electro Components Limited (MECL), in Pune, Maharashtra.

The new facility adds Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) capability to Motherson’s Lighting & Electronics vertical. It will manufacture printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), electronic control units (ECUs), and other related electronic products.

The facility has commenced operations with an initial installed capacity of approximately 1.5 million pieces per annum, which will be ramped up further. The company has invested approximately INR 940 million in the facility as of August 26, 2026.

MECL received the consent to operate on August 25, 2026, enabling the facility to begin operations.

According to Motherson, the addition of the new manufacturing facility is aligned with its Vision 2030 and is aimed at strengthening the insourcing of key electronic components across the automotive value chain.
