Jindal Mobilitric Private Limited, a subsidiary of Jindal Worldwide Limited (JWL), is set to commence commercial operations with the launch of its maiden electric scooter, the R40, marking the company’s strategic entry into India’s rapidly growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
The R40, offering a claimed range of 165 kilometres on a single charge, has been developed through Jindal Mobilitric’s in-house research and development capabilities. Designed to deliver superior performance, safety and affordability, the scooter is aimed at meeting the evolving mobility needs of Indian consumers while supporting India’s transition towards sustainable transportation.
The vehicle is currently undergoing the final stages of homologation, and the Company expects to commence commercial dispatches from this July, 2026, subject to the receipt of the necessary regulatory approvals.
To support its long-term growth plans, Jindal Mobilitric has established a state-of-the-art integrated manufacturing ecosystem at Ahmedabad comprising an electric two-wheeler manufacturing facility with an installed annual production capacity of 2.5 lakh units, along with an automated in-house battery manufacturing facility of an equivalent capacity. This vertically integrated model is expected to deliver superior battery quality, enhanced safety standards, supply chain efficiencies and cost competitiveness.
The Company has received an encouraging response from its distribution network and has built an order book of approximately 1000 units, providing strong visibility for its initial production schedule. Jindal Mobilitric currently has 35 dealerships across India and aims to expand its network to 100 dealerships over the next 12 months, significantly strengthening its nationwide sales and service footprint.
