GEE Limited, a manufacturer of welding consumables and welding solutions, has received strategic approval from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), marking a significant milestone that enables the company to participate in India’s highly regulated nuclear power supply chain. The approval expands GEE’s addressable market, unlocks new long-term growth opportunities, and strengthens its position within the country’s clean energy ecosystem.
The approval places GEE among a select group of qualified domestic suppliers capable of serving India’s nuclear power sector. NPCIL’s stringent technical, quality, and safety requirements create a high barrier to entry, providing the company with a strong competitive advantage while reducing exposure to low-cost competition.
The development is expected to further enhance GEE’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) profile by reinforcing its contribution to India’s clean energy transition. As an authorised supplier to the country’s nuclear energy programme, the company is expected to become increasingly attractive to ESG-focused institutional and global investors.
The approval also positions GEE to benefit from India’s ambitious nuclear power expansion plans. The Government of India aims to increase the country’s nuclear power generation capacity from 8.8 GW at present to 22.5 GW by 2031 and 100 GW by 2047, creating a substantial long-term growth pipeline for certified suppliers supporting nuclear infrastructure projects.
In addition, nuclear power projects typically involve large capital investments, milestone-based payment structures, and multi-year execution cycles, providing certified suppliers with greater order book visibility, predictable cash flows, and sustained long-term revenue growth.
Commenting on the development, Mr. Umesh Agrawal, Joint Managing Director of GEE Limited, said, “Receiving NPCIL approval marks an important milestone in GEE’s growth journey. It reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality, reliability and manufacturing excellence. This approval strengthens our ability to participate in India’s expanding nuclear power programme and reinforces our strategy of serving specialised, high-value industrial sectors. The approval also reflects our ability to meet the stringent technical, quality and safety standards required for participation in one of India’s most specialised and strategically important industrial sectors.
India’s ambitious nuclear energy expansion presents a compelling long-term opportunity, and we look forward to supporting India’s clean energy transition by delivering specialised welding consumables and engineering solutions for critical nuclear power applications while continuing to strengthen our presence in high-value industrial applications. We remain committed to delivering innovative, high-quality products while creating sustainable long-term value for our stakeholders.”
