ABB India Limited has appointed Hemanth Kumar as Local Division Manager – Motion and designated him as a Senior Management Personnel (SMP), effective July 1, 2026. The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors through a circular resolution following the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
Hemanth Kumar currently serves as Sales & Marketing Director – Traction Division at ABB India and brings more than two decades of experience in sales, marketing and business leadership. During his tenure with ABB, he has held several leadership roles in India and overseas, leading strategic initiatives and delivering large-scale traction and mobility projects.
In his new role, Kumar will lead ABB India’s Motion business, one of the company’s core divisions that provides high-efficiency electric motors, drives, generators and digital motion solutions for industries including manufacturing, mining, infrastructure, metals, cement, water, utilities and transportation. The business plays a key role in helping industries improve energy efficiency, productivity and operational reliability.
The appointment forms part of ABB India’s ongoing leadership transition aimed at strengthening its management team as the company expands its presence in industrial automation, electrification and sustainable technologies. The company clarified that Kumar is not related to any director or key managerial personnel and is not debarred from holding office by any regulatory authority.
ABB India has been witnessing steady growth across its electrification, robotics, process automation and motion businesses, supported by rising investments in manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy and industrial digitalisation. The latest leadership appointment is expected to support the company’s strategic focus on accelerating growth in the Motion division while delivering advanced energy-efficient solutions to industrial customers
