Powertrac Orders 10 GWh AI-Driven, AGV and Robotic BESS Manufacturing Line in GujaratĀ

Powertrac has announced its strategic entry into the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) sector with a proposed 10 GWh advanced BESS manufacturing facility in Gujarat, marking an expansion of its business beyond solar PV manufacturing, turnkey EPC and distributed renewable-energy IPP projects.

As part of the expansion, Powertrac has signed and released an order agreement with SUNKA LEAD, a China-based provider of battery-manufacturing equipment and intelligent automation solutions, for the development of the proposed BESS manufacturing production line.

The facility is being designed around a highly automated and AI-enabled manufacturing architecture, incorporating automated BESS container fabrication, AGV-based intelligent material movement, robotic assembly and handling, automated inspection and testing, quality-control systems, and integrated BESS assembly, testing and commissioning capabilities.

The BESS initiative marks a strategic expansion of Powertrac’s business from solar energy into energy storage, while leveraging its existing capabilities in EPC, renewable-energy project development and IPP operations. We also plans to address opportunities across utility-scale energy storage, commercial and industrial (C&I) energy solutions, grid stabilisation, ancillary applications and operations & maintenance services.

Powertrac currently has 480 MW of distributed renewable-energy IPP projects under signed PPAs, including projects under PM-KUSUM-C and the Gujarat DISCOM DREBP Scheme has set a target of achieving 1 GW of operational IPP capacity by 2030.

The Ordered production line is to incorporate advanced intelligent-manufacturing technologies, including AGVs, robotic material handling and assembly, automated inspection, testing and quality-control systems.

The facility is being positioned to serve emerging requirements from C&I customers, renewable-energy developers, utility-scale storage projects, grid infrastructure and broader energy-transition applications.

Powertrac’s strategic direction is to build an integrated renewable-energy and storage platform to grow
