Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) has announced its unaudited financial results for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, reporting robust operational and financial performance during the first quarter of FY27. The company achieved 37.5 Billion Units (BUs) of electricity traded during the quarter, registering a 15.9% year-on-year (YoY) increase.
The company’s standalone Profit After Tax (PAT) stood at Rs. 126.7 crore, marking a 12.1% YoY growth from Rs. 113.0 crore in Q1 FY26. Consolidated PAT increased 11.7% YoY to Rs. 134.8 crore, compared with Rs. 120.7 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
Consolidated revenue for the quarter rose to Rs. 202.8 crore, reflecting a 10.1% YoY increase from Rs. 184.2 crore recorded in Q1 FY26.

BUSINESS UPDATE
On the power sector front, during the first quarter of this financial year, India experienced hotter-than-normal summer marked by persistent heatwaves and above-normal temperatures. As a result, the country’s peak power demand surged to an all-time high of 270.8 GW in May 2026. Consequently, country’s energy consumption touched 485.4 BUs in Q1FY’27, registering a year-on-year growth of 8.8%.
On the fuel side, coal production was nearly 233 MT in Q1 FY’27, supported by ample minehead inventory that was sufficient to meet peak summer demand. Coal inventory at power plant was 17 days at the end of 30th June, in spite of high summer demand. As a result of increase in power demand, the average price in the Day Ahead Market during Q1FY27 at Rs 5.1/unit increased 15.7% compared with Q1 FY’26. Similarly, the average price in the Real Time Market at Rs 4.5/unit during Q1 FY’27 increased 13.8% compared with Q1 FY’26.
On the gas market front, the Indian Gas Exchange (IGX) traded gas volumes of 27.5 Million MMBtu in Q1 FY’27, a growth of 11.9% over Q1 FY’26. For Q1 FY’27 IGX recorded a profit after tax of Rs. 16.3 Crore, higher by 15.5% compared with Rs. 14.1 Crore in Q1FY’26.
Indian Gas Exchange Limited on July 14, 2026, filed DRHP for its proposed IPO. The Indian Energy Exchange holds 47.3% stake in IGX, and as per PNGRB regulations, it has to bring it down to 25%. The Offer comprises an offer for sale of 22.3% equity shares by IEX.
In Q1FY’27 the International Carbon Exchange (ICX) issued 42.4 lakh I-RECs as compared to 44.4 lakh I-RECs in Q1FY’26. ICX made revenue of Rs 2.1 crore in Q1FY’27, as compared to Rs 1.8 crore in Q1FY’26, achieving growth of 16.1% YoY. The I-REC is a globally recognized digital certificate that serves as transferable proof of generation of 1 MWh of energy from renewable sources.
