Coal India Limited (CIL) has secured a Letter of Award from Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited for the development of a 600 MW solar power project at Jalaun Solar Park in Uttar Pradesh. The project will be developed in two phases of 300 MW each and marks another significant step in the company’s renewable energy expansion strategy.
The solar project will supply power at a tariff of ₹2.73 per kWh and involves an estimated investment of ₹2,831.11 crore. The award underscores Coal India’s growing focus on diversifying its energy portfolio through large-scale renewable energy initiatives.
According to the award conditions, Coal India will be required to submit the necessary documents as stipulated in the Letter of Award before executing the relevant project agreements. The company will also be required to pay the upfront solar park development charges prior to the execution of the implementation agreement.
The project is scheduled to be completed within 18 months from the signing of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Once commissioned, the 600 MW solar installation is expected to contribute significantly to clean energy generation in Uttar Pradesh while supporting India’s broader renewable energy objectives.
The contract has been awarded by Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, a domestic entity, for the development of the utility-scale solar project at Jalaun Solar Park.
