BHEL Receives LNTP from DVC for 800 MW Durgapur Supercritical Thermal Power Project

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has received a Limited Notice to Proceed (LNTP) from Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Kolkata, for the 1×800 MW Durgapur Supercritical Thermal Power Station project. The notice enables BHEL to begin advance engineering activities and place orders for critical long-lead equipment under the project’s main plant package.

According to the company, the LNTP was issued on June 10, 2026, allowing the commencement of preparatory work related to the Boiler, Turbine and Generator (BTG) package of the upcoming thermal power station.

BHEL stated that it emerged as the successful bidder in DVC’s major tender for the main plant package of the 800 MW supercritical unit at Durgapur. The current LNTP covers advance engineering and procurement of critical long-lead items required for project execution.

The company further informed that the final order for the supply and execution of the complete main plant package is expected to be awarded by DVC after the completion of a 10-month period from the date of issuance of the LNTP.

The contract has been awarded by a domestic entity through an international competitive bidding process. The value of the LNTP contract is reported to be more than ₹90 crore, excluding GST.

BHEL clarified that both BHEL and DVC are Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). However, the transaction does not qualify as a related-party transaction.

The LNTP remains valid for a period of 10 months from its issuance date, while the order for the full supply and execution scope of the main plant package is awaited.
