JSW Energy Limited has completed the acquisition of Raigarh Champa Rail Infrastructure Private Limited (RCRIPL) through the corporate insolvency resolution process under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, strengthening its control over critical rail logistics supporting its thermal power operations in Chhattisgarh.
RCRIPL provides railway infrastructure services to JSW Mahanadi Power Company Limited (JMPCL), which owns a 3,600 MW (6 X 600 MW) thermal power plant located in Chhattisgarh. Of the total capacity, 1,800 MW is operational while the remaining is under construction.
The acquisition of RCRIPL will enable operational control and efficiency in managing railway infrastructure services to the JMPCL Plant for the entire 3,600 MW capacity, enhancing reliability and reducing dependency risks for this critical input.
As per the resolution plan, the consideration amount is ₹ 700.1 Crores, through a mix of cash and issuance of Non-Convertible Debentures by RCRIPL to the Financial Creditors.
With this acquisition, along with the previously consummated acquisition of KSK Water Infrastructures Private Limited, JMPCL has secured critical resources for its entire 3,600 MW capacity.
JSW Energy has a total locked-in generation capacity of 32.1 GW, comprising 13.3 GW operational, 14.2 GW under construction across thermal and renewable, and has a pipeline of 4.6 GW. In thermal, the Company currently has an installed capacity of 5.7 GW, 3.2 GW under construction, and a pipeline capacity of 1.8 GW, taking total locked-in thermal capacity to 10.7 GW. The Company also has 29.6 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through hydro pumped storage projects of 26.4 GWh and a battery energy storage system of 3.2 GWh. The Company aims to reach 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030, and to achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
