NTPC Limited Completes Acquisition of Sinnar Thermal Power Limited with MAHAGENCO

NTPC Limited has informed the stock exchanges that the consortium of NTPC Limited and Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) has completed the acquisition of Sinnar Thermal Power Limited (STPL) on February 24, 2026.

The acquisition was executed in accordance with the Resolution Plan approved by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT). STPL was undergoing the Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC).

STPL owns a coal-based thermal power plant comprising 5 units of 270 MW each, aggregating to a total installed capacity of 1,350 MW. The plant is located at Sinnar, Nashik, Maharashtra.

With the completion of this transaction, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has increased to 88,132 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 87,052 MW.
