MIC Electronics Limited has been awarded a contract by Southern Railway to upgrade Passenger Information Systems

MIC Electronics Limited has been awarded a contract by Southern Railway to upgrade Passenger Information Systems (PIS) across several key stations in the Salem Division as part of Indian Railways’ station modernisation efforts under the Amrit Bharat Scheme.

The project carries a sanctioned value of ₹56.43 lakh and encompasses the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of advanced digital passenger information systems. It also includes associated civil works, signalling and telecom tasks, and a five-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract to ensure ongoing performance and reliability.

Under this contract, MIC Electronics will install RDSO-compliant Passenger Information Systems at multiple stations, including Tirupattur, Samalpatti, Morappur, Bommidi and Salem. The systems being deployed feature single-line double-face platform display boards, Full HD and UHD display units, 4K professional screens, network monitoring and fibre management equipment, public address hardware, speakers, and all necessary cabling and infrastructure.

The scope further includes excavation, trenching and reinstatement of signalling and telecom assets, supported by the deployment of skilled and unskilled manpower as required at project sites. Following installation, the systems will undergo comprehensive testing, commissioning, and long-term maintenance to ensure seamless operations.

The upgrade is expected to significantly enhance real-time passenger communication, improve the quality of station-level digital infrastructure, and elevate overall passenger experience across the Salem Division. It reinforces MIC Electronics’ ongoing collaboration with Indian Railways and supports the broader objective of implementing technology-driven, passenger-focused enhancements at railway stations.
