SEPC coal mining project in Madhya Pradesh showing opencast coal mine operations, heavy mining machinery and energy infrastructure development

SEPC Ltd has entered into a major partnership with the JARPL–AT Consortium, composed of Jai Ambey Roadlines Pvt Ltd and Avinash Transport, to execute a large-scale coal mining project awarded by South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) in Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh. This contract is valued at approximately ₹3,299.51 crore (including GST) and is expected to span around 10 years, bolstering SEPC’s presence in the coal sector.

The project covers the Rampur Batura Opencast Coal Mine, located in the Sohagpur Area of Shahdol, where the consortium will oversee comprehensive mining activities. The scope of work includes supply of material, deployment of machinery and manpower, project management, consultancy services and other lifecycle execution tasks specified under the contract.

Under the agreement, SEPC will play a key role in supporting the execution of the mining operations throughout the project’s duration. The arrangement is designed in a capital-efficient, asset-light structure, which allows SEPC to participate in this long-term assignment while maintaining disciplined deployment of financial resources.

Speaking on the development, Venkataramani Jaiganesh, Managing Director of SEPC Ltd, said the collaboration strengthens the company’s mining portfolio and adds visibility and scale to its order book. He noted that the structured nature of the engagement aligns with SEPC’s strategic focus on sustainable growth and project execution certainty.

The decision marks a continuation of SEPC’s efforts to expand its footprint in India’s energy infrastructure segments, particularly in coal mining execution and support services. With India continuing to rely on domestic coal production to meet rising energy and industrial demands, such contracts are seen as pivotal in reinforcing infrastructural capacities in key mining regions.

Madhya Pradesh has been actively attracting investments in mining and energy sectors, with recent state-level initiatives highlighting the potential of the region’s rich mineral base. Such project awards contribute to broader objectives of enhancing energy supply, job creation and regional economic development across central India.
