MEHRU Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Powergrid contract high voltage current transformers 400 kV 220 kV oil cooled transformers India transmission projects power equipment manufacturing Bhiwadi facility National Capital Region electrical infrastructure expansion

MEHRU Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Quality Power Electrical Equipments Ltd., has secured a significant order worth approximately ₹26 crore from Powergrid Corporation of India Ltd. The contract covers the supply of 400 kV and 220 kV oil-cooled current transformers (CTs) for upcoming high-voltage transmission projects.

This marks one of MEHRU’s largest single orders in the high-voltage instrument transformer category and reinforces the company’s strengthening position in India’s power-equipment manufacturing sector. The transformers will be deployed in substations operating across voltage classes ranging from 132 kV to 500 kV, supporting the country’s expanding transmission network.

According to the company, the order will be executed over the next 12 months, with manufacturing and testing taking place at MEHRU’s Bhiwadi facility in the National Capital Region. The high-voltage CTs being supplied are critical components used to ensure safe and accurate measurement, protection, and monitoring within power-transmission systems.

The contract win comes at a time when India is making substantial investments to modernise its grid infrastructure and integrate higher volumes of renewable energy. The growing demand for reliable, high-performance electrical equipment has placed manufacturers like MEHRU and Quality Power at the centre of transmission-sector expansion.

The company stated that the order from Powergrid further validates its technical capabilities and long-term commitment to the high-voltage equipment segment.
