Industrial bodies and business associations across Punjab have welcomed the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL)’s recent reforms aimed at simplifying the electricity connection process for industrial consumers. The initiative is being hailed as a progressive move that will enhance ease of doing business in the state.
Under the new framework, PSPCL has streamlined application procedures, reduced approval timelines, and introduced digital mechanisms to monitor connection requests. The reforms are designed to minimize delays in granting industrial power connections and improve coordination between distribution circles and large consumers. Representatives from several industrial associations stated that these changes would help accelerate new project installations, reduce operational bottlenecks, and boost investor confidence in Punjab’s manufacturing ecosystem. Many manufacturers have also noted that quicker connections will reduce idle time for machinery and equipment, thus improving productivity.
Officials at PSPCL emphasized that the reforms are part of a larger modernization initiative aimed at increasing efficiency, transparency, and customer satisfaction. The corporation is also working on digital metering, feeder automation, and power quality enhancement projects to support industrial growth. The initiative is expected to strengthen the state’s energy infrastructure and create a more reliable environment for electrical equipment suppliers, contractors, and service providers. By adopting a customer-centric approach, PSPCL aims to position itself as a forward-looking utility supporting Punjab’s economic and industrial expansion.
