Trump Unveils $300 Billion US Refinery Project Backed by Reliance Industries

US President Donald Trump has announced a major $300 billion oil refinery project in the United States, backed by investment support from Reliance Industries, marking what he described as a historic development for the country’s energy sector.

The refinery is planned to be built at the Port of Brownsville in Texas and will be developed by America First Refining. The project is expected to become the first new major oil refinery constructed in the United States in nearly 50 years, aimed at strengthening domestic energy production and refining capacity.

According to project details, the refinery will have a processing capacity of around 168,000 barrels of crude oil per day and is designed specifically to process American shale oil, which many existing US refineries are not configured to handle efficiently.
Reliance Industries is expected to play a key role in the project by providing investment backing and entering into a long-term offtake agreement to purchase refined products from the facility. The partnership highlights the growing global presence of the Indian energy major, which already operates the world’s largest refining complex in Jamnagar, India.

The project is expected to create thousands of jobs, boost regional economic activity in South Texas, and strengthen US energy security. Construction of the refinery is anticipated to begin in 2026, with the facility positioned to support both domestic fuel demand and export markets.

Trump described the development as a major step toward restoring American energy dominance, stating that the new refinery would increase production capacity, support exports, and deliver significant economic impact for the region.
