Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and ABB have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to expand their strategic collaboration across IT infrastructure, digital and industrial artificial intelligence (AI), data centres, and emerging technology domains. The partnership aims to drive innovation, improve operational resilience, and support sustainable growth through a long-term cooperation framework.
Under the agreement, the two companies will combine ABB’s expertise in electrification and automation with TCS’ global capabilities in AI, data, and engineering services to develop next-generation infrastructure and enterprise applications.
As part of the collaboration, both companies will work on transforming IT infrastructure and applications to create an agile, secure, and resilient technology foundation aligned with ABB’s operating model. The initiative will focus on improving operational efficiency, strengthening cybersecurity, and enabling continuous modernization of digital systems.
The partnership will also cover joint initiatives in industrial AI and factory modernization, including the use of digital twins, vision-based inspection, and convergence of operational technology (OT) with information technology (IT). These efforts are intended to enhance automation, productivity, and real-time decision-making in industrial environments.
In addition, the companies will explore opportunities related to AI infrastructure development in India, particularly in areas linked to electrification, automation, digital platforms, and software systems. These opportunities are expected to arise from TCS’ planned investments in AI-driven infrastructure and data-centre expansion.
Morten Wierod, Chief Executive Officer of ABB, said the partnership will help the company build smarter systems, scale innovation globally, and strengthen its presence in India, which remains a key growth market. He added that the collaboration positions ABB as an important partner in TCS’ data-centre expansion initiatives.
K. Krithivasan, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of TCS, stated that the agreement reflects a shared vision to move beyond incremental transformation and build future-ready industrial enterprises. He noted that the combination of ABB’s industrial leadership and TCS’ expertise in AI, data, and engineering will enable the development of intelligent, resilient, and scalable industrial solutions, while accelerating AI-led innovation across global operations.
