Tata Power reports Q2 FY2025–26 results showing marginal decline in profit and revenue due to weak power demand during monsoon season.

Tata Power Company Limited, one of India’s leading integrated power utilities, has reported a slight decline in both profit and revenue for the second quarter of FY2025–26, as lower electricity demand during the monsoon season weighed on overall performance.

According to the company’s financial disclosure, consolidated revenue for the July–September quarter stood at approximately ₹15,545 crore, marking a marginal year-on-year decline of around 1%. Net profit during the quarter fell to ₹919 crore, compared to ₹927 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company attributed the subdued performance primarily to weak power demand resulting from extended monsoon conditions that reduced air-conditioning and industrial consumption.

Despite the dip, Tata Power maintained a stable operating margin, driven by its renewable energy portfolio and strong performance in the transmission and distribution segment. Industry experts note that the decline, though moderate, highlights the need for more diversified revenue sources and greater emphasis on renewable integration and digital grid management.

With India’s industrial demand expected to recover in the winter months, the company remains optimistic about its long-term growth trajectory. Tata Power continues to expand its renewable capacity and invest in grid modernization, storage, and e-mobility solutions  aligning with India’s push toward decarbonization and sustainable electricity generation. The company’s strategic focus on clean energy transition is expected to cushion future fluctuations in demand
