Tata Motors’ electric vehicle arm introduces refreshed Punch.ev with ~355 km real-world range, lifetime battery warranty, and pricing positioned near comparable ICE vehicles.
Tata Motors’ electric vehicle division, TATA.ev, has launched the updated Punch.ev, strengthening its push to make electric mobility more accessible to Indian households. The vehicle is priced from ₹9.69 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), with the company positioning it as a near-price-parity alternative to comparable petrol-powered cars in the entry-level segment.
The refreshed Punch.ev is offered in three personas: Smart, Adventure, and Empowered, and features two battery pack options: a 30 kWh unit and a larger 40 kWh LFP prismatic cell pack. Tata Motors states that the 40 kWh variant delivers a claimed real-world range of approximately 355 km and an ARAI-certified range of 468 km.
According to the company, fast charging from 20% to 80% can be completed in around 26 minutes. Tata Motors also claims the vehicle can regain up to 135 km of real-world range in just 15 minutes of charging.
A key highlight of the launch is the Lifetime HV Battery Warranty for the 40 kWh battery pack, covering unlimited kilometres. Tata Motors defines “lifetime” as 15 years from the date of first registration for the original owner.
To reduce upfront purchase costs, Tata Motors is introducing a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) financing option. Under this structure, customers can purchase the Punch.ev from ₹6.49 lakh, coupled with a per-kilometre battery EMI of ₹2.6. The company noted that the BaaS offering will be available soon, subject to financier approval.
On charging infrastructure, TATA.ev reported that its network now covers more than 2.3 lakh charging points across 1,500 cities, including over 30,000 public chargers aggregated via partnerships with more than 30 charge point operators. The company also highlighted its superfast charging network comprising 450+ charging points across 130+ highway hubs, with plans to expand to 800 points by FY26.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., stated that the updated Punch.ev addresses critical barriers to EV adoption, including affordability, driving range, charging accessibility, and battery reliability.
Built on Tata Motors’ acti.ev platform, the Punch.ev competes in India’s subcompact electric SUV segment, a category the original Punch helped define.
