Sterlite Electric, a manufacturer of capital goods and provider of system integration solutions, has appointed Frederic Andre M Trefois as its Group Chief Executive Officer, marking a strategic leadership move aimed at driving the company’s next phase of global growth and innovation in power infrastructure.
Trefois previously served as a Non-Executive Independent Director on the company’s board and brings extensive experience in overseeing and managing global businesses. In his new role, he will lead Sterlite Electric’s growth strategy while strengthening its focus on advanced grid technologies, intelligent power systems, and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Commenting on the appointment, Pratik Agarwal, Managing Director of Sterlite Electric, said that Trefois joins the organisation at a crucial time when power grids worldwide must evolve to manage increasing complexity and scale. Agarwal noted that Trefois’ global perspective, disciplined execution, and sector expertise will help the company expand its capabilities while reinforcing its role in enabling reliable, affordable, and sustainable power systems.
Speaking on his new role, Trefois said Sterlite Electric has an ambitious vision as global energy systems become increasingly digital and interconnected. He emphasised the importance of developing intelligent and resilient grids that help utilities optimise asset performance, enhance reliability, and make informed capital investment decisions, while ensuring sustainability remains embedded in infrastructure design and delivery.
Before joining Sterlite Electric, Trefois held leadership roles at Sécheron Hasler Group and SNC‑Lavalin Inc., gaining significant experience in managing international engineering and infrastructure businesses. An engineer by training, he holds academic degrees in civil engineering.
Formerly known as Sterlite Power Transmission Limited, Sterlite Electric specialises in the design, manufacture, and supply of high-performance power conductors, extra-high voltage (EHV), high-voltage (HV), and medium-voltage (MV) cables, as well as optical ground wire (OPGW).
