Singareni Collieries announces 2047 vision with 25 GW renewable energy expansion and launch of Global Singareni Limited for critical mineral exploration.

Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has announced an ambitious long-term expansion roadmap under its “Telangana Rising 2047” vision, setting a target to develop 25 GW of renewable energy capacity over the next two decades. The state-owned miner, traditionally known for coal production, is preparing to evolve into a diversified energy and minerals enterprise as part of its future growth strategy.

A key element of this transformation is the creation of a new subsidiary, Global Singareni Limited (GSL), which will spearhead the company’s entry into critical minerals, including strategic resources such as copper, gold, rare earths, and other essential materials. The new arm will pursue exploration and mining opportunities both in India and internationally, marking SCCL’s first major global foray.

In addition to the 25 GW clean energy target, SCCL’s 2047 plan outlines a substantial scale-up in power generation, including up to 15,000 MW of thermal capacity. The company has also set interim goals for 2030, including achieving 100 million tonnes of coal production and installing 5,850 MW of renewable capacity through solar, wind, floating solar, pumped storage, and geothermal projects.

Company officials noted that this strategic shift aims to prepare SCCL for India’s evolving energy landscape, reduce long-term dependence on coal, and strengthen the nation’s supply chain for critical minerals. The vision positions SCCL to play a larger role in clean energy expansion and resource security as the country moves toward its net-zero commitments.
