REC Limited Incorporates Vizag Power Transmission Limited to Drive Green Energy Projects in Andhra Pradesh

REC Limited has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary, Vizag Power Transmission Limited, on February 16, 2026, with an authorized and paid-up capital of ₹5,00,000. The new entity has been established following a Ministry of Power notification to develop transmission systems supporting Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in Vizag, Andhra Pradesh. REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, will act as Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) for bidder selection. After the TBCB process, the subsidiary will be transferred to the successful bidder along with all associated assets and liabilities.

Vizag Power Transmission Limited has been incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, as a wholly owned subsidiary of RECPDCL, which itself is a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited.

The incorporation follows a Ministry of Power notification dated December 26, 2025, which allocated an inter-state transmission project to RECPDCL. Under this mandate, RECPDCL will oversee the bidder selection process for transmission systems supporting proposed Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects in the Vizag region (Phase-I).

The newly formed subsidiary will facilitate the development of critical transmission infrastructure to support India’s green energy transition. RECPDCL has a strong track record as BPC for selecting transmission service providers through Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) for independent inter-state and intra-state projects assigned by the Ministry of Power and state governments.

The incorporation represents a related party transaction, with REC Limited holding 100% equity through RECPDCL. The shares were subscribed at face value via cash consideration, and promoters or group companies hold no additional interest in the entity. Following the successful completion of the TBCB process, Vizag Power Transmission Limited will be transferred to the winning bidder along with all assets and liabilities, in line with standard industry practice.

The establishment of Vizag Power Transmission Limited reinforces REC Limited’s growing role in India’s renewable energy infrastructure. While the subsidiary has not yet commenced operations, it is strategically positioned to support Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects, which are expected to play a pivotal role in India’s decarbonization efforts and the country’s broader clean energy transition.
