Digital-twin power grid concept showing real-time data, AI modeling, and smart distribution for Rajasthan’s electricity network.

The state of Rajasthan has been selected by the International Solar Alliance (ISA) to build a “digital twin” of its electricity-distribution network making it the first in India to do so.

Under the scheme, the electricity infrastructure will get a virtual, real-time replica using live data, AI-based modeling and grid-management tools. This digital grid will enable better forecasting, load-flow analysis and smarter distribution helping improve efficiency, reliability and readiness for growing renewable energy integration.

Officials note this will strengthen operational planning and transform how power is managed in the state especially important as Rajasthan ramps up renewable capacity.

The project has attracted serious interest: 15 consortiums responded to ISA’s call for collaboration, signaling strong confidence in the emerging “digital twin” ecosystem for power distribution.

The “digital twin” initiative also fits into the broader national vision of a unified, secure, and interoperable digital power-infrastructure under India Energy Stack.
