PRAGATI platform accelerating India’s power sector projects worth ₹3.02 lakh crore

India’s digital governance platform PRAGATI (Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation) has played a pivotal role in accelerating power sector development, with 43 major power projects worth ₹3.02 lakh crore commissioned by December 31, 2025.

According to official data, these commissioned projects form part of 53 power sector initiatives that have been monitored at the Prime Ministerial level through the PRAGATI mechanism. The total investment value of all projects reviewed under this tranche stands at approximately ₹4.12 lakh crore, underscoring the scale of infrastructure delivery enabled through high-level oversight.

Among implementing agencies, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) leads with 20 commissioned projects, followed by NTPC, which has completed 14 projects. Other central power utilities, including NHPC, NEEPCO, THDC, and Sterlite Power, have each commissioned two projects, while one large transmission project has been completed in Uttar Pradesh.

In addition to the projects already commissioned, 10 power sector projects valued at around ₹1.10 lakh crore remain under construction and continue to be monitored through the PRAGATI platform to ensure timely execution.

Since its launch in 2015, PRAGATI has reviewed 237 power sector projects involving investments exceeding ₹10.5 lakh crore. At present, 108 power projects worth nearly ₹6 lakh crore are under various stages of construction and remain under active monitoring.

The progress highlights the effectiveness of PRAGATI’s technology-driven, inter-ministerial coordination model in resolving implementation bottlenecks, expediting decision-making, and ensuring faster delivery of critical power infrastructure across the country.
