POWERGRID Secures Maharashtra Transmission Project Under TBCB

POWERGRID has emerged as the successful bidder for a key transmission project in Maharashtra under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework. Power Grid Corporation of India Limited received the Letter of Intent (LoI) on Wednesday, confirming its selection for the project aimed at addressing transmission constraints in Pune Region-I.

The project, titled “Network Expansion scheme in Maharashtra for removal of Transmission constraints in Pune Region-I (765/400 kV AIS Pune East),” will be implemented on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis. Classified as an Intra-State Transmission System, the development underscores POWERGRID’s continued role in strengthening India’s power transmission infrastructure through competitive bidding mechanisms.

The scope of work includes the creation of substantial transmission infrastructure designed to enhance network capacity and reliability. Major components of the project comprise the establishment of an Air Insulated Substation (AIS) in Ahilyanagar District, the construction of 765kV transmission lines, the development of 400kV transmission lines, and bay extension works at existing substations across Maharashtra.

This network expansion initiative is strategically significant as it targets the removal of existing transmission bottlenecks in the Pune region, a critical industrial and commercial hub. By improving the efficiency and dependability of power evacuation and supply, the project is expected to support regional demand growth and grid stability.

POWERGRID disclosed the development in accordance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015. The announcement reflects the company’s adherence to regulatory requirements and its commitment to maintaining transparency with stakeholders and the investment community.
