Power Minister Shri Manohar Lal Inaugurates Ministry of Power Pavilion at AI Impact Summit 2026

Union Minister for Power, Shri Manohar Lal, on Wednesday inaugurated the Ministry of Power Pavilion at the AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam. The inauguration highlighted India’s commitment to harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) to build a future-ready, efficient, and resilient power sector.

The pavilion articulates a forward-looking vision for the sector under the theme “From Megawatts to Megabytes: Transforming India’s Power Ecosystem.” It showcases how digital technologies are reshaping power generation, transmission, and distribution systems.

Among the key highlights at the pavilion is AI-Driven Power for a Self-Reliant India, demonstrating how advanced digital solutions are enabling smarter operations and improving decision-making across the power value chain. The Startup Zone provides a dedicated platform for innovative, startup-led solutions supporting the transformation of the energy ecosystem.

The pavilion also features PG-AMRIT — POWERGRID Asset Management through Artificial Intelligence in Transmission, an AI-enabled initiative by Power Grid Corporation of India (POWERGRID) aimed at strengthening transmission asset monitoring and enhancing operational efficiency. Another showcase, the eAabhas Early Warning System, is an AI/ML- and IoT-based real-time monitoring and flood forecasting platform for dams and barrages, designed to enable proactive risk management and improve safety.

Additionally, the pavilion highlights AI-Driven RDSS Implementation, which involves the deployment of advanced, innovative indigenous technologies to address operational efficiency and revenue management challenges faced by Indian DISCOMs. Collectively, the exhibits reflect the Ministry of Power’s emphasis on integrating cutting-edge AI technologies to reinforce infrastructure reliability, boost efficiency, and support sustainable sectoral growth.

During his visit, the Minister also toured the exhibition presented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at the summit. Dr. Vikas Kumar, Managing Director of DMRC, briefed him on the organisation’s AI-led initiatives.

DMRC officials noted that AI is expected to enable faster resolution of customer grievances and passenger-related issues. In the maintenance domain, AI applications are being utilised to monitor overhead electrification (OHE), pantograph–OHE interaction, wheel grinding, rolling stock subsystems, and signalling systems.
