Ola Electric launches Shakti residential battery energy storage system from Krishnagiri Gigafactory

Ola Electric has successfully rolled out the first unit of ‘Shakti’, India’s first fully made-in-India residential energy storage system, from its Gigafactory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. This launch represents the company’s expansion beyond electric vehicles into home energy solutions, emphasizing domestic manufacturing and contributing to India’s energy independence initiatives.

This marks company’s foray into the country’s residential BESS market and expansion beyond the automotive domain

Commenting on the launch, Ola Electric spokesperson, said, “The roll-out of ‘Shakti’ from our Gigafactory is a defining moment in our mission to build the future of energy in India. Powered by our indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell, Ola ‘Shakti’ makes reliable, affordable, and intelligent energy storage accessible to every Indian home, farm, and business.”

Unlike conventional lead-acid inverters or diesel generators, Ola Electric said, Shakti operates across a wide input voltage range of 200V-240V, protecting appliances from voltage fluctuations. It is spill-proof with IP67-rated batteries tested for dust, water, and monsoon conditions.

Ola ‘Shakti’ is available in four configurations: 1kW/1.5kWh, 1kW/3kWh, 3kW/5.2kWh and 6kW/9.1kWh — and is capable of powering appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cooktops, farm pumps and communication equipment.

The company added that its charging times can be as fast as two hours, with backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours at full load. It is available for reservation on the company’s website with a booking amount of ₹999.
